Tha’era members meet with Labour Party WFD Governor Rushanara Ali MP

Tha’era executive members met with Rushanara Ali MP during a two day Tha’era review meeting hosted by the Labour Party in London. The meeting in the House of Commons was an opportunity for members to provide an overview of the achievements of Tha’era, discuss the various challenges faced, and look at ways in which the Labour Party can further support their work.

The review meeting brought together members from Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia, and the evaluation sessions which took place during the meeting led to the development of an action plan formulated around further training activities, communication, and potential expansion of the network.

The Arab Women's Network - Tha'era - has received support from the Labour Party since its inception in 2013. In two years, it has formally trained 150 women through a bespoke training programme, and hundreds more informally through the space created by the network.

Meeting Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Greem and Bow was an enlightening experience for Tha’era members. She is a perfect example for how women can brake race and gender barriers. She gave us hope and courage to go ahead. With willpower, hard work, and solidarity SD women can reach their goal! Thank you Nabila Sattar and all our friends in Labour Women’s Network and Westminster Foundation for Democracy for making it possible.
