A visit for sister party representatives took place in March 2020 so that they could observe best practice for the upcoming Mayoral Elections (which were later postponed due to the pandemic).
Over the course of two days, the participants joined in a number of briefings with a wide range of stakeholders engaged in the election. This included in depth sessions with officials involved in the Sadiq Khan for London 2020 campaign ranging from campaign strategy and outreach, communications strategy and field operations, and campaign observation. The participants also had the opportunity to meet Alex Norris, Member of Parliament for Nottingham North who spoke about his political journey and campaigning during the election period. The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, hosted a session based on election campaigning and maximising voter turnout. The final session of the visit was hosted by Lord Kennedy of Southwark who spoke on his personal journey to becoming a member of the House of Lords and fundraising and elections in the UK.
This visit also provided participants with the opportunity to build strong regional networks through sharing best practice on campaigning.
