Participants from Africa, the Middle East and the Western Balkans meet with the Lord Mayor of Liverpool and Councillor Roy Gladden at Liverpool Town Hall
The best practice programme took place alongside the Labour Party's 2016 Annual Conference, and introduced the participants to the experience and challenges of local government in the UK, in addition to the workings and structure of Annual Conference.
The group met with a number of elected politicians, party officers and other stakeholders during the programme, which gave the participants a first-hand opportunity to learn about the Labour Party’s procedures and processes. The group were also able to sit in on the conference debates and votes, and attend some of the fringe events held throughout the week.
Following the programme, participants expressed their enthusiasm for developing regional cooperation between the represented parties, and for applying some of the campaign and event organisation methods used by the Labour Party in their own parties.
